Location, Location, Location

Out and Proud is set in the stunning scenery of Pennan, a small harbour village on the North East coast of Scotland.

Well known for being the setting of the film Local Hero it sits nestled into the base of the cliff. Comprising of just a small row of white cottages and a local pub all along one street. Sitting at either end is a quaint harbour and a rugged white sand beach.

I was inspired to write when I stayed in one of those beautiful cottages across from the harbour. One of the joys of using Pennan as a setting for this book was that I could use my lively imagination to invent a vibrant lesbian community in the heart of the Highlands coastal regions. Something which I’m not sure exists, but I’d like to think it does
